The texts men are most afraid to send (2026)

of the questions Google suggests to men about texting a woman start by asking for permission: "should i," "do i," "can i." 101 of 416. Men aren't asking what to say. They're asking whether they're allowed to say anything.
Another 56 ask whether a text would be weird, desperate, clingy, needy, bad or okay. 23 end in "reddit."The thumb hovers over send. Then it goes to Google. We typed the first half of the questions men ask before texting a woman, "should i text her," "is it weird to text a girl," "how long to wait to text," and wrote down how Google finished them. 416 on-topic suggestions from 55 seed phrases, sorted into eight worries.
Google finishes "should i text her" with "yes or no." It finishes "she left me on read" with "but watches my stories." It finishes "is it too soon to say i love you" with "after 2 weeks." And "she hasn't texted back" with "in 3 hours."
Eight texts men are afraid to send
416 on-topic Google autocomplete suggestions from 55 seed phrases, US English, pulled October 18, 2026. Suggestions, not search volumes.
Read the bars as breadth, not volume. Each seed phrase returns up to ten suggestions, and categories had different numbers of seeds, so a longer bar means men have more distinct ways of asking that question, not that more men asked it.

Questions
What texts are men most afraid to send?
In 416 Google autocomplete suggestions we collected, the biggest worry was the first text and asking her out (87), followed by whether they are texting too much or should double text (64), what to do when she goes quiet (61), and whether to text an ex (52).
How often do men ask Google for permission to text?
1 in 4 of the suggestions (101 of 416) start with "should i", "do i" or "can i". Another 56 ask whether a text would be weird, desperate, clingy, needy, bad or okay.
Are these search volumes?
No. They are Google autocomplete suggestions, which show that enough people typed something similar, not how many did. Bar length reflects how many distinct phrasings came back from our seed phrases.

How we did this
On October 18, 2026 we sent 55 seed phrases to Google's public autocomplete endpoint (suggestqueries.google.com, US English) and kept every suggestion it returned: 543 in all, 531 unique. We kept only suggestions about texting or messaging a woman, a girlfriend, a crush or an ex. We dropped 115 that were off topic: women asking about men, texting bosses, friends or teachers, songs, memes, translations, holiday decorating and medical questions. That left 416, which we sorted into eight categories by keyword, checking each category in order (ex, silence, time of day, decoding, feelings, too much, timing, first text) and putting each suggestion in the first one it matched.
What this is not. These are autocomplete suggestions, not search volumes. Google shows a suggestion when enough people have typed something like it, and it filters some topics, but it does not say how many. The counts reflect which seeds we used and how many distinct phrasings came back. Autocomplete also can't tell us who typed a query. Most seeds name "her" or "a girl", but some, like "should i double text" or "how to apologize to a girl", are typed by anyone. Results change by day and location.
