How to reply when she leaves you on delivered
Delivered. Not read, not answered. Just sitting there. You've opened the thread six times like that will help. It won't. Here's what to actually do.
What delivered usually means
Delivered means it got to her phone. That's it. She might not have opened it. She might have read it from her lock screen, which doesn't trigger read receipts. She might have receipts turned off. Delivered tells you almost nothing about how she feels.
Why she might not have answered
Busy. Asleep. At work. In a group chat with forty unread messages. Or not sure what to say, because the last text was a dead end. Or yes, sometimes, losing interest. One delivered text can't tell you which.
Don't do these
- Don't send a second text an hour later.
- Don't send "?" or "you alive?"
- Don't screenshot it to your group chat for a ruling. They don't know either.
What to send, and when
Wait at least a day. Then send something new and easy to answer. Not a follow up to the old text. A fresh thought, a funny thing that reminded you of her, or a specific plan.
Texts you can send
just watched a guy try to parallel park for ten minutes. thought of your driving story
theres a food truck thing saturday. come eat too much with me
did you ever finish that show or did it lose you
no pressure at all. if you want to grab a drink sometime im around
A woman's read
Honestly, a lot of us answer texts in our head and forget to actually send it. Or we see it on the lock screen during a meeting and mean to get back to it later. When a guy follows up a day later with something light and fun, it's a relief. It gives us an easy way back in. When he follows up with "?" it makes us feel scolded, and that's harder to answer.
The move
Wait a full day. Send one fresh, easy text, a joke or a plan. If that one also sits, stop and let her come back on her own.
When to let it go
Two texts in a row with nothing back across a few days is your answer for now. Don't send a third. If she reappears, pick up warm and skip "where'd you go." The same rules apply when she's left you on read. And if your texts tend to go quiet, check how to fix a dry texting conversation.
Questions guys ask
What does it mean when a text says delivered but not read?
It reached her phone. She may not have opened it, may have read it on her lock screen, or may have read receipts off.
How long should I wait after being left on delivered?
At least a full day before sending anything new.
Should I double text if she leaves me on delivered?
Once, after a day or so, with something new and easy to answer. Not more than that.
Does delivered mean she blocked me?
Usually not. Delivered by itself is not a reliable sign of being blocked, so do not read it that way.
