What to text when she cancels a date
She canceled. Maybe an hour before, maybe the day before. You already put on the good shirt. Before you reply, take a breath, because how you handle this matters more than the cancel itself.
Two kinds of cancels
The real one. She cancels and offers another day in the same text, or right after. "So sorry, work exploded, can we do Sunday?" She wants to see you. Life got in the way.
The soft no. She cancels with no new day. "Sorry something came up, rain check?" and nothing else. Sometimes that's still real. Often it's a polite way out.
How to reply either way
Short, warm, unbothered. Not "no worries!!!" with three exclamation points, not a guilt trip, not a question about what came up. You're a guy with a life. Your Thursday will be fine.
If she offered a new day
Lock it in right away. Confirm the day and time. Done.
If she didn't
Don't ask "when works for you then?" Leave the ball with her, warmly. If she wants to reschedule, she'll tell you. If she doesn't, you didn't waste a week chasing.
Texts you can send
no worries at all. sunday at 7 works. same place?
all good, hope everything is ok. let me know when youre free
tragic. the tacos will miss you. let me know when youre free
no stress. sounds like timings rough right now. if it changes you know where to find me
A woman's read
When I cancel on a guy I actually like, I feel bad and I usually offer another day right away, because I don't want him to think I'm not interested. When I'm not that into it, I cancel and I leave it vague. Either way, the guy who replies calm and kind wins. The guy who gets weird or asks for an explanation makes me glad I canceled.
The move
Reply once, short and warm. If she offered a new day, lock it in. If she didn't, leave it with her and don't follow up. Then go enjoy your night.
If she cancels twice
Two cancels without a new day is an answer. Let it go gracefully. One kind text, then nothing. If she comes back later with a real plan, great. If you want to understand the soft no better, read what "haha maybe" usually means.
Use the night anyway
Go out with a friend. Go to the gym. Do whatever you'd do on a good free night. Not to prove anything, just because you're not going to build your week around one maybe. Want the next date to stick? Pick something fun and easy and confirm the day before.
Questions guys ask
Does canceling a date mean she is not interested?
Not always. If she offers another day, she probably is. If she cancels with no new day, it is often a soft no.
Should I reschedule after she cancels?
If she offered a new day, yes, right away. If she did not, let her bring it up.
How do I reply to a last minute cancel?
Short and unbothered. Something like "all good, hope everything is ok, let me know when youre free."
What if she cancels again?
Two cancels without a new day is usually an answer. Send one kind text and let it go.
