How to get matches on Hinge as a short guy
You've heard the jokes and you've seen the "6ft only" bios. It's real that some women filter by height. It's also real that lots of short guys get matched, dated and married every day. The ones who do aren't hiding their height. They're making the rest of the profile impossible to swipe past.
Jules's read
I'm 5'7" and I've dated guys my height and shorter. What I care about is how a guy carries himself. A short guy who's confident, well dressed and funny about it is attractive. A short guy who lies by three inches or puts an angry joke about tall guys in his bio is not, because now it's the only thing I'm thinking about. Height is one line on your profile. Make sure the other twenty say something great.
What to do about height
- Put your real height. Lying gets found out on date one and kills trust instantly.
- Don't apologize or get bitter. No "yes i'm short, deal with it." Neutral is strong.
- A light joke is fine if it's warm. "5'6 but i'll still get things off the top shelf for you with a step stool" reads confident.
- Widen your height filter thinking. Some women set filters and others don't. You only need the ones who don't care.
Photo fixes that help
- Clear, solo, smiling first photo. Face and shoulders, daylight. Height isn't visible here, your face is.
- Full body shot taken from your eye level or slightly below. Not from above, which shrinks you.
- Clothes that fit close. Slim fit, tailored length, no baggy pants pooling at your shoes. Same color top and bottom adds length.
- Posture. Stand tall, shoulders back. Here's how to fix bad posture fast.
- No photos next to very tall friends. Not hiding, just not making a comparison the headline.
Do and don't
Do
- Do show a full life: hobbies, friends, something you're good at.
- Do write specific, funny prompts. See Hinge prompts for guys.
- Do comment on her profile when you like it, with one specific line.
Don't
- Don't lie about your height, even by an inch.
- Don't write anything bitter about women, height filters or tall guys.
- Don't use lifts or camera tricks that make you look different from real life.

A woman's read
When a short guy owns it, I barely notice it. When he hides it, apologizes for it, or makes it a whole thing in his bio, it's all I notice. Give me a clear face photo, a full body shot in clothes that fit, a funny prompt and a real comment on my profile. That guy gets my like whether he's 5'6" or 6'2". Confidence is the tallest thing about you.
Your mission tonight
The move
Tonight, check three things on your Hinge. Is your height honest? Is there anything bitter about height or women anywhere? Is your full body photo taken from above? Fix all three, then swap in one prompt that's specific and funny.

Questions guys ask
Can a short guy get matches on Hinge?
Yes. Plenty of short guys match and date. The key is an honest height, a clear smiling first photo, a well fitted full body shot, specific prompts and liking with a comment. Many women do not filter by height at all.
Should I lie about my height on Hinge?
No. It gets noticed on the first date and breaks trust right away. An honest height with a confident, light attitude does better than a few fake inches.
How can a short guy look taller in photos?
Have the photo taken from your eye level or slightly below, stand with good posture, wear slim fitted clothes in similar colors top and bottom, and avoid photos next to much taller friends.
