First date ideas in Atlanta
Atlanta is a car city with one big exception, the BeltLine. Build your date around it and you can walk from drink to food to dessert. Everything below was open this year, but places change, check hours before you go.
The low-key drink
- Kimball House (Decatur). Oysters and cocktails in an old train depot, one of the best bars in the country. Sit at the bar. Text her: "oysters and martinis at kimball house thursday? or are you not an oyster person"
The walk and talk
- BeltLine Eastside Trail (Old Fourth Ward to Inman Park). Murals, patios and people to watch the whole way. Text her: "beltline walk saturday afternoon? we stop wherever looks good"
- Piedmont Park (Midtown). The lake, the skyline and a lot of good dogs. Text her: "piedmont park sunday? i'll bring coffee, you rate the dogs"
The activity date
- Skyline Park (on the roof of Ponce City Market). Mini golf, carnival games and a city view. It goes 21 and up some evenings. Text her: "mini golf on the roof of ponce city market friday? loser buys drinks"
- The Painted Duck (Westside, Brady Ave). Duckpin bowling and bar games, open late on weekends. Text her: "duckpin bowling at the painted duck saturday? i need someone to beat"
Cheap and cute
- Krog Street Market (Inman Park, now called The Krog District). A food hall right off the BeltLine. Everyone gets what they want. Text her: "krog street market after work friday? you pick dinner, i pick dessert"
The rainy day
- High Museum of Art (Midtown). The building alone is worth it. Some Fridays run late with music. Text her: "rain all weekend. the high on saturday? you can explain art to me"
The impress-her dinner
- Miller Union (West Midtown, Brady Ave). Southern, seasonal, Michelin recommended, in an old warehouse. Text her: "i got us a table at miller union friday. dress how you want, it's not stuffy"
The late-night bite
- El Rey del Taco (Buford Highway). Al pastor late into the night, until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays. Text her: "it's late but i know a taco place on buford highway. you in?"

A woman's read
Atlanta traffic means every extra stop is a commitment. The guy who picks one area and plans a walkable night wins. Krog Street to the BeltLine to a rooftop is three dates in one, and she never has to get back in a car. That's thoughtful, and she'll notice.
The move
Pick one stretch of the BeltLine, choose a drink at one end and food at the other, and text her the first spot with a day and time.
Before you go
Places change, check hours before you go. Miller Union is the one to book. Skyline Park goes 21 and up on some evenings, so check before you plan around it. Need the ask itself? Here's how to ask her out over text.
Tell Val about her and she'll plan the whole night.
